Phodnichi Poli/ Phodnicha Bread (Spicy Chapati/Bread Upma):
(All ingredients are underlined)
Coarsely grind any left-over chapati (roti)**. For 2 chapatis*, heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds. When they crackle, add a pinch of asfoetida (hing), 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, and 4-5 curry leaves. Add 1 green chili slit vertically, and 8-10 peanuts. When the peanuts turn brownish, add 1 small onion, finely chopped. When the onion turns pinkish, add the ground chapati and simmer the gas. Add salt and red chili powder to taste, 1 tomato cut into small pieces, 1 tsp sugar, and 2 tsp lemon juice. Mix well and turn off the gas in 2 minutes. Garnish with finely chopped coriander and thin sev and serve hot.
* If the left-over chapati is not enough, you can add coarsely ground bread to it. **Instead of chapati you can use bread to make 'Bread Upma', in the same way.
